The problem
AI Adoption Barriers for SMEs
Our target audience is small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the UAE and wider region. These businesses see the potential of AI but struggle to adopt it in a practical, affordable way.
From speaking directly with SME owners and teams, we consistently see three main barriers:
- Resource limitations – Building AI tools in-house is expensive and time-consuming. Most SMEs don’t have the budget, data team, or infrastructure to develop and maintain custom AI solutions.
- Technical expertise gap – SME teams rarely include AI engineers or data scientists. Even when they are convinced AI can help, they don’t know where to start, how to integrate it, or how to keep it running.
- Security, data quality, and integration concerns – SME systems are often fragmented and contain inconsistent data, which makes AI harder to apply. At the same time, founders are rightly worried about privacy, security, and data control when connecting their tools to external AI systems.

Business model & Pricing:
We follow a SaaS + usage-based pricing model. Our customers pay a recurring software license to use our products (Annual), plus a variable fee based on actual usage such as AI conversations or procurement volume. This keeps pricing transparent, scalable, and accessible to SMEs of different sizes with various budgets. Our starting price for Souq Mate’s annual license is just 1,500 AED.
